I have always had a great love for food.
My food background includes growin up in a crazy food-loving family and having a routine that entails preparing daily meals while experimenting with recipes that combine Eastern and Western ingredients. Both of these experiences truly bring me joy. I find design and cooking have a lot in common. Both require skills, patience, energy, time management, and an eye for aesthetics. Above all, they both result in the most splendid satisfaction at the end when you commit your greatest passion to them.
“Don’t play with your food!”
The work that I have created for this project has acted as an outlet for my food and design obsessions. My intent was to visually and expressively communicate my personal perspective on the food world, from the celebration of all things delicious to the catastrophe of world hunger. I’m grateful that my mom frequently says, ”don’t play with your food,” because ironically what she provoked was my curiosity to see where the love affair between design and food might take me.
